Uncle Larry? He has closed his business a while ago.

So has S.LaRose and Jim at PTPWP a good while ago.

Dave is still in business, so are two or three others that I know of.

OK, I'll chime in here. The fact is that there WERE factory 12 hour 4992Bs made. They're just rare. One was for the British (Admiralty I think) and one was a U.S. Navy contract. I've got one of those in a sterling case.

As for the conversions there was indeed a kit sold after World War II. I used to see them for sale a couple of decades ago but couldn't tell you the last time I saw one. They came with an aftermarket dial, a minute wheel that fit the smaller post, an hour wheel, a cannon pinion and a new 4th wheel with the long pivot to convert them to a traditional pocket watch with the seconds at 6 instead of center seconds. You were supposed to remove the center seconds but I've seen a few that had both the center seconds AND seconds at 6:00. They also made a kit that kept the center seconds and came with a 12 hour dial, cannon pinion, minute wheel and hour wheel.

Also, a 992 is NOT a 992B. They don't have a single interchangable part. So do NOT think you're going to use 992 parts. The 992 is the older series of movements, the 992B was the last 16 size movement that Hamilton made. They finished up in 1969.

The one on the left is the aftermarket conversion. Note that it says "Hamilton" on the dial. NONE of the ordnance watches had a name on the dial. The one on the right is the Navy contract in the sterling silver case.

Hi Unreformed66,

Thank you for the warning about 992 not being the same as the 992B... You saved me from buying a bunch of broken watches on ebay...

So... 992B parts can be used? Or i ahould just be patient and keep bidding on 4992Bs and pray for a good price

As long as you don't need a cannon pinion you should be able to use 992B hour wheels. The 992B cannon pinion is not hollow for the seconds pinion like the 4992B cannon pinion. The hole in the minute wheel is too big for the smaller post in the 4992B so you'd either have to find one, make one or forget it. I don't remember if it's a drive in friction fit post or if it's a machined part of the movement plate. I'd have to look.
