The "secret" is to only depress the release button as much as you need as there is no firm stop behind it.

I also learnt the hard way, that it's bes to use a screw driver that fits into the oblong hole. The you can't press the pin too deep.

Nailed it... i pressed so deep that even the datewheel on the other side got bent
Thank you for the source! I will look it up...
I managed to remove datewheel and get tge stuff back so that the stem snaps in again, even the date and time setting position snaps in - though nothing works... i'm annoyed but i learnt much... how to do it not

When this happened to me unreformed already warned me to check if anything is bent.
I found that when up to this point you only handled 6497 part these automatic movements are much more delicate...
