I once had a Seiko GS on my bench, the owner had asked around for help, he even sent it to Japan for repair, but they said that parts were obsolete.

I happened to have what he needed and he was very impressed with the result.

You can order the base watch from rep dealers. Its had a lot of work done to it but everything on that watch is stock. There is a thread in the tutorial section where I did one.
