who is bronzerai

Post by bronzerai »

Born to a career Navy man and a college professor of English, one taught me a love of the ocean and the other how to swear. During a cruise in Hong Kong my dad bought a brand new Submariner 1680 for a whopping $500, which saw the bottom of several oceans during his time as a Navy diver, and my interest in watches was first kindled. As I child I remember handling the watch and thinking why would anyone want something that heavy on their wrist.
Fast forward many years and a good friend of mine I met while obtaining a bachelor in fine arts started talking incessantly about some watch brand called Panerai and I thought the crown guards were ugly and why would anyone want something that large and heavy on their wrist.
I fell in love with the combination of art and science of horology. The first automatic watch I purchased was a Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece Phase de Lune Tonneau follow by an Anonimo Militaire which was large and heavy which finally led me back to Panerai when I discovered Anonimo's beginnings: remaining Panerai staff that did not want to move from Italy after the Richemont acquisition.
I thought those Radiomir cases are lovely but Anonimo just released a bronze Polluce case that is fascinating, what if I could find/make a bronze Radiomir?
After hours of searching I found passing mention of bronze cases associated with a mysterious Athaya ;) and subsequently Homage Forum.
Since 2012 I've ebbed and flowed on the forum as frequently as the ocean tides surrounding the little speck I live on in the middle of the Pacific. I've completed a masters, changed careers, had a child, and bought a house but I always come back due to the comradery, knowledge, and addicting pleasure of building something bespoke and specific to my personal taste. This is after owning and selling Vacheron Constantin, Rolex, Panerai, Tudor, and a variety of micro brands, and vintage beauties.

If you're a Hawaii resident or visitor to Oahu and need travel suggestion or are down for Cigars, liquor, and/or microbrews feel free to hit me up.

Downside of that whole ebb and flow thing is I have a crappy record for finishing projects. Stalled out on the 6154 to 3646 conversion but maybe the completed project will be my first build thread for the new forum.

Thanks! Spent time in Boston but always meant to see NY, the micro brew scene has blown up here in the past 4 years just FYI.
