My first thought was also no visible crown, and green 12 numeral.
It looks like a Fitch patent, he made silver cases that first of all were supposed to be dust proof, perhaps even water proof/resistant.
I had a feeling that the crown was under the bezel, I have seen that in a pocket watch.
It is a really neat watch.

I've had this watch about 20 years; I got it at a pen show long before I had any interest in watches or knew anything about them at all. I just liked the look, and it wasn't very expensive. Google searching now, it looks like these are "hermetic watches" that were an early attempt to make watches waterproof:

interesting piece, seen that the crown was missing but wouldn’t imagine that it is hide inside the case
