They were used by Wittnauer, but they are not Longines, it's a Revue Thommen patented design ;)

Longines had an 8 day design, but it looks quite differently:

I think this is where I read about it, looks like almost the same movement with just a different balance clock design and relocated train wheels. Not sure which movement came first but someone appears to have stolen a significant portion of the design elements.

Note that the movement isn't marked Longines.
That's basically the same movement as above - have a closer look at the winding bridge, it even has the cut out for the balance wheel on the side. This (most probably, later) version was adapted to have central seconds. tictactoc on HF1 had some comparison pics of both movements.

I highly doubt design was "stolen". Thommen made and sold movements to a lot of companies - including f.ex. Rolex. And these twin barrel movements are found marked GT, Wittnauer, Majestic. But I have never seen Longines, which is to be expected - at the time Longines made their movements themselves...

Here is the patent: https://depatisnet.dpma.de/DepatisNet/d ... &pdfpage=3

I am almost positive I have seen these movements marked longines. I will try and find a photo.

That being said I have never researched these movements in depth and I beleive you that thommen has the patent.

That doesnt necessarily mean that longines never branded these movements or perhaps did their own similar variation.

I took that article I read at face value and was always under the impression that longines was responsible for these beauties.

Here are some for refreshments and hope Belkin12 do not mind me sharing his pics ImageImageImage. Enjoy the pics guys!ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Man I love how big that display caseback is with that big movement.

Thanks for finding the pics!

I am still looking for pictures of the longines double barrel movement I saw. It was gorgeous, all of the engravings were gold. Nicest one of these movements I've seen.

I guess it's possible that it was a fantasy build and someone added the engravings after the fact.

I'm going to keep digging though.
