The reason why I.....

Post by Yoda »

......never get around to building anything.

1. Too much work for others.

2. I am particular. This issue made me tear apart my MM today, tomorrow I will go over every single screw to make them look new again. It's all about what I know, even if I can't see everything, it has to be perfect. Did I hear OCD?

Which leads to the question: who is selling the better gasket set these days?

I know where you're coming from. When I had my big block Chevy Nova, I would jump out at a traffic light to adjust either the carb mixture screws or the timing.

And yes....you definitely have OCD like me! :-)

Gasket for the case back and bezel or for the crown?

I have a set of good silicone red o-rings for the bezel and CB:
2mm Section
VMQ Silicone O-Ring

Silicone supports a wide range of temperatures and has excellent resistance to weathering and ozone. The temperature range for this material is -65° to 390° F (-54°C to 200°C).
ID. = OD. - (2mm x 2)

Yoda you are welcome!

By the way, if you want improved water resistance (1000 m) I have been told that the main requirement is placing a good proper-size flat o-ring under the crown.

Thanks, I have acquired a few of those! As it is now it can withstand 800 m. It is a bit more than I can.

Agree, that is why I wrote "better". Best is hard to determine and find.
