Angelus 240 8 Day Movement

I purchased an Angelus 240 8 Day Movement Panerai watch from a member a few weeks ago.

When it arrived, I wound it and it does not keep time.

I took it to my watch smith be checked out and he has not been able to figure out the problem.

Unfortunately, he does not have any experience working on Angelus 240 8 Day Movements

Does anyone have access to an Angelus 240 8 Day Movement manual in pdf format that you could PM so I can forward it to my watch smith.

Remove it from the case and monitor its time keeping ,see if it improves .Jeff

Did you or your watchsmith try demagnetizing it for improved time keeping?

he issue is when you wind the movement, it does not keep time.

When it arrived, I gave it a full wind and it does not keep time after winding it.

When you pull out the crown to setting 1 and 2 and wind it, most times you can only change the time.

At setting 1 for winding, where it only changes time, I slightly push the crown in to wind it before for about 30 times before it resorts to setting time mode.

I will ask my watch smith to demagnetize it and have him take the movement out of the case to see if it can be fully wound.

the movement has only two positions, crown in you can wind it. pull the crown once and you can set the time. maybe something wirh the setting mechanism. maybe the winding steam to short.
otherwise the movement isn't something special and ypur watch smith supposed to know how it works. almost same as eta 649x.
dirt, to much pressure from the caseback on the movement can make it slower. did you put it on a timegrapher?

It looks when I unscrew the crown and wind it in position 1 when I am able to get it to not change the time, most times the crown screws into lock position and I have to unscrew the crown out of lock position.

I mentioned what you said to my watch smith and he said he will take a look at the crown stem problem.

Hopefully, it is an easy fix.

I mentioned what you said to my watch smith and he said he will take a look at the crown stem problem.

Hopefully, it is an easy fix.

My watch smith has suggested we may need to recondition the movement.
