driving... pilot... or something like that

Post by neckyzips »

ok, so this is the first time ive made a watch for myself in over a year, and the very first pilot style watch, couldnt pull off the 47mm ones, and the 42mm cases have funky looking lugs. i picked up this gen Meisterart miltarisch pilot thinking i would like it... na, not so much but i did like the case size, but the crown sticking out the side bugged me. i've had this 917 for some time now and just couldnt bring my self to do anything with it. it had a pretty good dial, and ran like a top. the other night when MM was over i stripped the meisterart apart and we went through all the dials we had looking for something that fit. we couldnt come up with anything except this 917! it dropped right in (well almost....) the dial fit anyway. but the crown is at 12, thats not going to work, i thought, so what if i just angle i a bit, looks good, but the cb screw is in the way, so off with part of the lug, made a tube, milled out the bezel to fit the movement, and some soldering and its finished. except for the old stem hole... that got a ss bump.

already long story even longer what do you think?

Great build.
I like very much the asymmetry with crown and the milled out piece of the lug; creates some tension

Wow! That's amazing. I love the fact that you can look at a watch and see the Art that it contains. I'd wear that in a heartbeat...
