Hello people. I’ve been away for a bit. Some of you may remember me as I used to sell lume from time to time. I had a bit of a career pivot post Brexit and don’t get involved in that stuff any more. I also got interested in smaller watches and more modern stuff. I even wore a (whisper it) Apple Watch for a few months. I recently found a box of my old watch parts (no lume sorry) and remembered how much I enjoyed the PAM homages. So I’m rebuilding a watch which I will use an old southy dial in and am quite excited about it.
I saw in my pms that I had missed a lot of messages about lume, so sorry to those people to whom I didn’t reply. As I said, I don’t have access to lume any more but I still think that my way of creating vintage lume was the most effective I’ve seen, in terms of brightness of afterglow and colour. Before I went dark I did find a new way of achieving the same lume colour outside of the lab with equipment that anyone could reproduce and I would be happy to share the recipe for anyone that’s interested. It would be an open source thing. If people are interested, I will post here. It’s a bit of a ball ache to do, but it works and it opens a world of possibilities with colour.
