Where do you find winding stems?

I am considering how to put an old movement in a new case. I'd need to extend the winding stem and add a new crown. Easy if I have a new winding stem.

Where are there a selection of uncrowned winding stems for sale and is there any consistency in sizing and design between different calibers?

What are the important measurements if not and how do you take them?

Actually every movement has its own winding stem. So when you need a winding stem for example to fit an eta 2824, you should search for „winding stem eta 2824“. Best place to search for is the bay.

You can search if you know the caliber. Or you can measure from the old stem and look for something pretty close.

The most important dimensions are the flats of the square section, the pin diameter on the end, and the distance back to the setting screw position. This website has got me out of a hole with a couple of odd vintage movements.

You wrote you "need to extend the winding stem",
so I understand you still have the original stem,
If you just need to extend it and/or convert the threading to adapt to the new crown,
you may consider these stem adapaters / converters:

The movement I am talking about is a GUB Kaliber 75. I am considering how to put it in a 62MAS style diver case.

Edit: after further reading, I am aiming for a https://ranfft.org/caliber/6239-GUB-11-25.

I had a quick look and your movement is Stem height (T): 2.8mm,
whereas NH35 cases are made for T=1.92mm
so the stem won't be aligned with case tube...

Per experience, stem height is the main constraint when you want to recase a movement:
you can easilly make a movement ring adaper, but changing tube position is all an other adventure.

The closer case I have in mind : Miyota 8215 / DG2813 wich are T= 2.5mm.

I try to buy stems three at a time. It’s a disappointment to trim the stem, realize it’s just a hair too short and then have to wait a week or two for another. There are tricks to get around a too short stem (a little brass dust in the crown tube works), but it’s best to have everything right when possible. Also, if you only need one, you’ve got spares… because anybody who builds a watch will build more.
