Hello, my name is Mirco and I am 40 years old. I live in Germany / Lower Saxony, am married and a father. Professionally I am an engineer for automotive technology. I actually always thought I didn't need a new hobby, but for some time now it's become apparent that I'm wrong
I was actually just looking for a new everyday watch as a daily. A work colleague is an Omega hardcore fan and I like his Speedmaster, for example. I've never really been interested in watches as a form of Art/craftmanship before. because my apple watch was enough for me. Now I look way too many videos every day about the functions and differences between automatic and manual clockworks and the virus seems to have me! The colleague mentioned recommended me a tribute or rep from the Watch i want to buy as a gen. Just to get a feel for the size etc. After many difficult journeys I ended up in this forum at some point.... I know - my journey has only just begun, but I'm looking forward to it.
Long story short... I learned from RWI Forum that there are no "good" Speedmaster's except the one's from Omega. My first build was a "cheap" Moonswatch coversion into a metal case.
Now I'm in love with the topic Panerai but this will be antother thread in the correct subforum.

Re: Newbie from Germany
I stole the idea from rwi-forum: https://forum.replica-watch.info/thread ... .10932691/ or https://forum.replica-watch.info/thread ... .10954876/
There is a trusted source for Moonswtch rep's at DHGate: https://m.dhgate.com/product/bioceramic ... C899702667
They got a Sunon PE50 movement instead of the eta-quartz (gen) - if you want to you have to do a subdialmod. The 1/10sec dial does not work as gen - it shows the time in 24h format.
From the moonswatch you need the movement, dial and hands (the dial is very good for the price - be aware some even cheaper rep's have "paperlike" dials)
You will need a 3d printed movement holder - the .stl file is "opensource" @rwi
The case i used: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzDVohj
Other used a Pagani Speedmaster rep as base. (Then you will need another movement holder).
