Pirate fantasy - Part 1: Brass

Post by Fizzzz »

I’ve finally found time to post some of my summer builds…

Each summer, I feel like building Seiko mods…and this year was particularly productive.

I’m still willing to experiment different metal textures, grains and patina.
All these dials are metal + various polishing and oxidation, no paint.

Case: Aliexpress SKX007 + ceramic insert.
The case came with a PVD black coating, too shiny for my taste, so the case has been totally sanded, then brushed in order to keep just a few black shadows (bezel and crown)
(PVD is much more resistant than I thought, it took me half a day to finish this case)

Dial: 0.5mm brass plate,
laser engraved with 5 different layers to create depth effect.
polished details (with dental tools)
then chemical oxidations partially soften.
Indexes are carved in the mass, filled with Superluminova C3
