That's what makes this such an excellent forum. Good, sound, useful advice. Thank you madasboot: you just saved me from ruining a set of hands!madasboot wrote: ↑January 4th, 2023, 7:02 pm PS- some notes in ageing.
My ageing processes are not intended to conclude in pictures but to give an overall feeling of age; subtle therefore.
There is a very thin line separating an homage from a caricature so I try to avoid the second at all costs.
The most difficult parts to age are hands and I have seen many who sand and scratch them in order to make them look old and used.
From my experience, it is rare to see an old watch with damaged hands unless they were object of aggression.
On the other hand, steel aftermarket hands are plated which makes the sanding even more tricky.
For that reason, in the case of “steel” hands, chemicals are the way to go and the kind of ageing is in my humble opinion, more realistic and subtle.
.... and what a superb Seamaster: a build to aspire to.

Thank you all for your kind comments and enthusiasm.
The process is the most important thing and where knowledge comes from, of course if well directed into an objective.
That said, its process that i can share about apropos of results that may, or may not, fit the bill.
One thing is certain, lots of small failures, lots of small joys that will never be translated in a picture, even if the picture is what we can share of more immediate.
But its the experience and experimentation that matters.
That and the rewarding feeling of a decent end of the journey.
Thank you also for the PMs.
I don’t offer my services and rarely let a watch go because there is a lot of heart in each one of them.
I can however help with my meager knowledge or with dials which I also do for myself.
Now, for two pesonal friends:
@Fizzzz OCD…
I am glad to inform that I am no longer on pills ahah…
@Mir36
J. How does it feel sitting on your wrist?
I will be posting other creations soon.
Best
