Message from Gordon RE: Retirement & Store...

Post by atkin68 »

Mods, I hope this is ok for me to post. I sent a note to Gordon this morning after another mention on the forum of his imminent retirement. Since there have been a few of these, I reached out to him directly to find out if/when I'll no longer be able to get parts from him. Here's his reply:

"Hello David,

Maybe you can help me and update the forum as I don’t visit these places online.

I am retiring however I have had many people ask me to continue to support the hobby. Therefore I will continue to supply items like 6152/3636 Cases and a few other items that other suppliers do not make. Items that can be bought from other suppliers will be discontinued on my website and not replaced when they sell out. This means a lot of my website parts may not be available in 2022. Hopefully people will not be left short as I am trying to work things so that nothing is left out.

I may close the website as soon as tomorrow for a few weeks maybe months. Things have suddenly changed here and it may mean I need to take a break. I will know more by next week.

If you need anything get it now, I will be going to the PO tomorrow.

Rgs G"

Update:

I had another reply from Gordon last night. It seems he's got to relocate and that his house sold more quickly than expected - thus the sudden shutdown of the store impending. The good news is he says he intends to open the store again in the future, albeit with a more limited selection of parts. The bad news is his wife's health is what is precipitating all of this transition so my heart goes out to him. We all know how willing he has been to share passion, knowledge, and advice - to say nothing of his fantastic products.

Thanks David for updating us and thanks to Gordon for all your efforts
Edit: I would like to add that he helped with the creation of the new forum and we are very thankful for that.

I have converted this thread to an announcement so it will be always the first of this subforum.

Dear Gordon,

Hope all is well with you and yours.
Your products have and your class have always been part of what I think of when I think of HF.

Thanks for all you’ve contributed over the past decade.

Enjoy the rest, sir.
