PINK BRONZE

Post by Widows_Son »

Anyone ever get a bronze case that has a pink tint to it? I tried to patina it several times...several different ways....but all I get is rose gold tones. Any advice? I'm disappointed. :(

I had the same issue. Is the case coated with anything? Try acetone cleaning and them force patina

It's a River Mille Mitre. I tried using Liver of Sulfur and Brass Black......I also cleaned it several times and tried it again. It's pink and I can't capture the color in pics for some reason.

If it's river bronze, the it's definitely coated by a clear coat, try acetone treatment. Should work

It depends on the acid used.

Ammonia and a bit of salt generates a coarse finish.

If you are looking for an homogeneous finish try using liver of sulfur:
First place the watch into warm/hot water for about a minute give or take to heat its surface, this speeds up the patina process and bonds it better I'm told.

Next its into the liver of sulfur for roughly two minutes or so, basically I wait until its black because its easier to remove patina than putting it back on.

Once the watch has reached your desired colour remove it from the LoS and place in the final container of bicardonated of soda to neutralise the liver of sulfur and stop its process. I leave it here for about half a minute before removing and drying.

I'm pretty good at patina...This one keeps a pink tone. I've cleaned it and retried several times. If everyone's started this way and then turned that golden brown tone I will be happy. Otherwise it's a big let down.

I don't think you can tell how pink it is in this pic....it looks like a brand new copper penny.

I think he has changed the material he is using to make the cases. That's my guess.

after lemon juice bath

I guess if you bought it new, its coated in something to prevent patinating
or it would be already in patina right after its produced, and it aint yesterday.

oh and i ve got a virgin rawai plexi
