Athaya's secs hands are long and they overlap the tick marks on NW's 3-piece dials ... so if you have NW 3 piece dials ... you may have to fall on the sword and buy his ... or have one of our WS make one ... either way, the cost will be way more than $15

So the moral is ... not all 3 piece dial sec ticks are created equal
Definitely agree. Athaya tall tube seconds hand has a longer spade then most of the 39mm 3, 6, 9, 12 dials with subseconds i’ve held. Including a southy 6497 spaced subsec. lpmm but I’ve lived with it.

I’ve actually always thought it was because of the spacing (further out from the center) that the seconds tick marks had to be smaller in order not be cut off by the 9. That said, I assumed the closer spaced sub second 240 dials had longer ticks and appear to fit longer spades...but most of those dials are 37mm...at least on Athaya website and for gen spec dials in NW’s site. Not sure how the 39mm sub sec 240 2pc dials look from NW, but I’ll find out soon from a project I’m working on where I’ll need to use a 39mm dial in his old case(Jackson-essentially ) without needing to change out the bezel for a 2pc to fit the 37mm gen spec dial.

Just trying to figure out options.

Mike777 wrote: June 26th, 2019, 9:18 pm How do I tell on a Angelus clock if it has a 240 movement or something cheaper like a 190 when the clock movement is not shown?
there are tell tale signs which many of us observe for the clock.

the diameter of the clock is a first indication.

the knobs on the back of the clock are a sure indication of whether it is 240 or 190. a 240 movement have smaller knobs and mounting screw. the back case is mounted on with 3 small screws.

the stem wind crown is slightly different design between a 240 and 190, even the clock hands are slightly different design if you observe closer the minute hand.

examples of non 240 clocks.

what Yoda is referring to is this one. note the extra extension on the minute/hour hand compare to the 240 hands.

also note the winding crown is different.

when crown is pointed between two screws then movement is SF190

Yoda wrote:To add to the good information already provided, there are at least three well known types of Angelus SF hands.

The first is the one with the tiny pointy part at the center, the flag.

The second is the flat type, sometimes this type can be the blued version.

The third is the curved type, gold plated.

The one with the square part in the end is the 190, stear clear of that one unless you want a travel clock.

Hi guys,

Need some advise here. As I have read through the attached image contents regarding the SF240 specs. I have realized that the size mentioned is in 3 inverted commas like 16"' = 36.8mm but anyone knows the later mentioned size of 14"' =??? in the end of the paragraph?

I have try googling but with no valid answers on sizing the 3 inverted commas.

Is it smaller or bigger than 16"'?

If it's smaller, did anyone come across any?

Thanks in-advance. [emoji2309][emoji4]Image

''' is a ligne: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne
Swiss movements are usually measured in the lignes.
16''' is 16 ligne mounting diameter of the movement (overall diameter will be sligtly bigger). The same goes for 14''' - 14 lignes, should be around 32mm OD.

Thank you [mention]spade_lt[/mention]!!![emoji4]

This information is helpful for sure. I believe a SF240 in 32mm size is as rare as Hens teeth[emoji28]. If it really exists and If I really find one! Then I will be able to homage a smaller case size 8 days Egi with a more correct Sub second spacing!

There are 2 ...3 smaller more affordable 8 day movements. The lemania and concord and a felsa

Here is an example of the lemania - this is a bit expensive imo.

Here is the felsa
