Excuse me while I ramble. Please let me know your thoughts.
When looking at used watches..., I am willing to
1). pay a little more buying a watch from a no questions asked return policy reputable dealer.
2). Pay a little less if still under warranty with a return policy from a reputable seller / especially with papers and receipts
3). Less still if private individual with little history.
Oh if the watch is modern...I compare prices to joma as often they are cheaper there (grey market) than an out of warranty watch.
A few days ago I was window shopping and saw a nice Pam with a unique in house movement. The watch had an in-house warranty at what looked like a pawn shop. Made me think... what use is an in house warranty if they can’t even get parts to repair the watch
Meaningless guarantees.... used market watch prices...

Those in-house warranties are a joke when dealing with used watches. I see a lot of dealers offering them, including their very own certificate of authenticity.

I honestly don't care much if it has a warranty or not.Tanukjaju wrote: ↑April 16th, 2018, 12:03 pm Excuse me while I ramble. Please let me know your thoughts.

If it's a Brick & Mortar (not a private sale) I expect to be able to return the product for a refund (Minus shipping) if there is anything wrong with it within the first few days.
If it's a private sale, Unless it's something SUPER obvious that they didn't disclose in the sales ad, I'm under the impression that it's AS-IS.
If I wanted a Warranty, I buy new....
I MAY be purchasing my first official new "Big Brand" watch soon. Almost all my collection, outside of a few microbrands, has been 2nd hand.

Re: Meaningless guarantees.... used market watch prices...
I've decided i buy only used market, but with reputable sellers or ones at least with some post counts, feedback and long registrations.
I've had a few new buys and after scratching them they look worst than 2nd hand, than whats the point they wont be kept 4 ever.
Paying gift is little risky.
I don't need warranty either, most products break little after the warranty is over, soo pointless.
So as cheaper it is and as new it is my deal.

That right there is a reason to stir away from them, which is a shame. I would be too worried to mail it international.

I prefer purchasing slightly cheaper second hand, assuming no obvious defects. Normally I put in to watchmaker for full service anyway, so if there is anything that needs fixing, its done. Discount pays for servicing etc- too much fine print on guarantees
