Re: The perpetual wrist shot thread
Very nice shots and piece.
A few signs to understand the use of this tool (although not relevant in terms of watchmaking except for the name Panerai).
This electric signal used in the 50s by our Italian Navy. It can make white light signals, or using the appropriate filters, blue or red. The filters are incorporated in the front handle, and by rotating the base of the same, the blue or red filter rises.
Through the trigger managed by the bulb. On the upper left side of the signaling device there is a diopter system which allows the beam to be directed more precisely.
It could be powered by batteries (located in the rear compartment) or connected by cable (connected to the cable at the base of the rear handle).

Depending what side the Crown Gard is. If on the left, then the panerai could be put accordingly, because movement rotate 180degree, I’m not sure. On your picture the two screws on regulator spring are going out of the border, also regulator polishing is a little different. I owned this movement before, this spring is made of brass chrome plated, I tried to make the two holes look like on my pictures by bolishing them down on super fine diamond disk, also repolished all screws to make them look flat. But already sold this watch.PAM_BOY wrote: ↑August 1st, 2020, 7:53 amHere are better pics...all nice!
BUT on your pic the writing is upside down!?

Thanks for the advice, i mentioned 'the upside down' because first i thought you took a picture from a 217!wwwEvgeny wrote: ↑August 2nd, 2020, 2:23 amDepending what side the Crown Gard is. But then i noticed that you took a pic from a non destro 44mm (PAM111?), in that case of course the lettering is the other way around!
Anyway it´s a REP and stays a REP but the Unitas stamp kills most doubts of it's being a REP
