Bulova Pocket Watch Conversion

Post by jbglock »

I think this is the right forum. This not being a homage of anything. This began as a Bulova pocket watch I picked up off of Ebay.

I bought it specifically for the dial as I love the look of it. I used a sterile Parnis case with a sapphire crystal, fit an onion crown, and bought a 22mm grey tropic strap for it. This is the result.

For me it is one of my perfect watches. The dial is interesting and easy to read. I love sapphire crystals having never had so much as a scratch on one. The movement has been accurate enough (+18 seconds per day) that I haven't even bothered regulating it yet. The onion crown is easy to use but doesn't dig into my wrist. I own lots of tropic straps because they look good imo and are comfortable.

A big thanks to the forum for this watch. If not for you all I wouldn't have this watch because I would never have known you could convert certain pocket watches this way so inexpensively or so relatively easy. :)

That’s a really cool (linen?) dial. This is how I got started with the hobby. I wish I still had the first one i built.
