In 40 years of collecting I've seen exactly 3 crystal plate Waltham movements in person. And none of them were for sale, they were just being shown off by their proud owners.Emilio wrote: ↑January 15th, 2020, 6:23 pm Not mine.

I wonder if our forum could tackle a 6497 clear bridge project. Would other plastic based materials work?unreformed66 wrote: ↑January 15th, 2020, 7:00 pmIn 40 years of collecting I've seen exactly 3 crystal plate Waltham movements in person. I don't know about plastic, but just yesterday I was reading about milling glass. I'm sure you could mill plates out of glass. How it would last I do not know.Tanukjaju wrote: ↑January 15th, 2020, 8:24 pmI wonder if our forum could tackle a 6497 clear bridge project. Re: Movement shot of the moment
the idea is genial, think about a 3/4 bridge, it would be looking amazing. I guess even you could use polih plexi but where I see the problem is, how to press the jewels inside, glue them? how to screw the winding wheel and the click? I think that are some reasons why there aren’t glas bridge movements at all.binbin wrote: ↑January 15th, 2020, 11:54 pmI don't know about plastic, but just yesterday I was reading about milling glass. Maybe a brass bushing in the jewel holes? Same for the winding wheel and click. Threaded brass insert? The insert could be riveted (crushed) into place.tafari wrote: ↑January 16th, 2020, 12:26 amthe idea is genial, think about a 3/4 bridge, it would be looking amazing. Aluminum oxynitride. Clear ceramic.
http://www.surmet.com/technology/alon-optical-ceramics/
I'm guessing it might not be cheap.
