2019-10-19 New Case and New Dial

Post by foxint@foxint.com.au »

Hi Guys

We had Snow and it was magic for a short time. Now back to the grind, VAT Reporting and watching our water consumption. Orange is on Level 5 (6 is critical) water restrictions…so our cars are dirty, the gardens are dying and many use this as an excuse not to wash…. ha-ha...

As indicated last time, we are slowly making the New Snowflake with the Chronometre grade movement and it is a good thing. My apologies for not getting them out quicker, but I am working on that. Thank you and I will try and keep the supply up to the orders.

The much-anticipated WT-1884 will be here soon. The dials (raised hour markers with a subtle “sunray” pattern) are being made as we speak. I expect this in early December – so probably will not get these out this year. I have kept the dial uncluttered.

Speaking of getting things out…please order soon, so the courier has some time to deliver as delivery times can increase after about mid-November.

The FedEx-Proof attaché-case or industriële bevestiging (Dutch) is well on the way. It will be about 290x250x36mm. It will be far more extreme than anything on the market. Currently it is going on a diet as it weighs a little too much. But it will be a thing of overly engineered beauty.

The cut-outs are for thumb screws. The layers will be secured with bespoke stainless-steel barrel bolts and screws

Not much else. Last term of the school year and we will again host Christmas and Sinterklaas at our house in Orange, for the zillion relative of my wife.

Guys

Thank you.

Currently working through with Australian suppliers to start the transition from 100% aluminium to the mixture. The plan is for 38% engineering plastic and the remainder aluminium.

To get the weight down, I will use UHMWPE. It comes in various colours and various sizes and none of these are available on the East Coast of Australia.

I am getting very pissed off with the Australian suppliers.

I got a quote for the “plastics” component of the box and it was 30% higher than the whole box made in Aluminium. A quote from their About Us: Dog Shit P/l has built up its market-leading position by delivering a high level of customer service and applications advice”

Australian manufacturing SUCKS. Once I get the prototype finalised, it will be offshore to get it made.

(PS…. Orange suppliers – I asked 2 on October 1 – a few follow up emails – NOTHING. It's really is a shithole. Perhaps we should go back to the origianl name Blackmans Swamp).

It is Spring - my hay fever is in overdrive as it is dry. Level 5 water restrictions. So not much joy in the Swamp....

It did snow in November in 2008. Plus my Mother-in-law remembers a White Christmas. Global warming/cooling is alive and well.

The box will be good. But it always takes far too long when using Australian suppliers, factories and engineers (if I can use these term loosely).

Thanks for the support.
