It is possible that roller plate on balance is sitting too low and it scratches pallet fork.
I'm more concerned about endshake you reported. Balance staff is not so expensive, just need to be changed by someone if you don't have staking tools...
Also check if balance bridge isn't bent up leaving too much endshake...
