So I assume that means you prefer solid over display in general if that is the gen format? Do I tally you as a solid guy then? Or ambivalent?
Both are okay with me. Although I reckon I would have a hard time covering a Rolex movement.

That's why I tend to use 6497
How about covering a good looking 618 if it's the gen format?
If it's a mint specimen, that would be a hard decision too.

Very interesting topic.

After a lot of brooding I've changed my mind recently and decided to use solid instead of the display case backs for my grail builds.
With all the effort I've spent to get everything as close as possible to a gen. watch it just felt wrong to ruin these efforts with using a display case back. I miss seeing the movements (240 cal and R618 Type 4) sometimes, but always can open the cases to take a peek :-)

I gotta admit; some of these display casebacks are things of beauty. It's tempting to wear the watch upside down.

I have seen it done in this forum before.

I imagine that it was just for the purpose of taking a photo but I could be wrong.

Display if movement is good looking...also practical for my warchmaker (dark?[emoji41])side of personality: I can always inspect it in few seconds[emoji106]
