So, I wanted a 24 hour watch. Ordered one off ebay. Out of Ukraine. My theory was that the watched looked goid, the movement looked good. The case didn't look cheap. Must be ok.... I was wrong.
It was a poorly converted 12 hour movement 2609.HA.
The hour hand slips. Never figured out if it kept proper time.
It was definitely one of those kick me moments. My 24 hour Sturmanskie was really Sturmanskiestein. A fake.

Re: Frankensteining Sturmanskiestein (move from HF)
Nov 24th
So what to do? Put it where it can't be seen for a year, pull it out and decide it's worth saving.
With no watchmakers with Russian knowhow here, I decided to give it a heart transplant. I'd put a ronda 515.24h quartz GMT in place of the 2609 handwind.
They are almost the same size.

Now, I bought hands, but am still waiting on something I can replace the gold with.
I also had to shave the movement spacer because it was interfering with the hands. Now, i need a spacer for the dial.... Or do I?
I decided to order a custom dial to replace the fake. It's going to be a 2 piece, so hopefully it won't need the topside spacer.
So in the new year, I hope to have a new face on Sturmanskiestein.

This is the dial I will be using. I'm thinking grey center, white outer ring(top layer), and yellow/green bottom layer. Contemplating the base colour after looking at render.
(Note... The 24 hour numbering on the dial is complete )

I need a 35mm crystal. I think I'll go high profile acrylic dome. I'm stuck for hands though. 120/70 and the only ones in my collection that fit are too short or wrong shape. Maybe I can paint these?

Just to note, this us a quartz gmt movement - Ronda 515 24h. The gold hand is the 24h hand and it's 160 or 165 and I haven't had any luck finding a hand to replace it with. The one I did order just won't go.
Also, I learned a valuable lesson about picking your colour scheme before buying hands.

New look options.
Sanded the original blued hands to steel. A little hard to see. Still have a set of the blued that are original.
I like the contrast of the white sword hands, but i wish the minute hand was longer. Looks like it has a Seiko influence with the short hands like this.
I tried a set of silver leaf hands, but they were impossible for me to read. So, no pics.
